Bio
Peter Borges works at the intersection of painting and digital fabrication to uniquely blend digital and physical art through the use of a variety of technologies, including plotters, lasers, and custom 3D printed tooling, among others. Through a collaborative process with the machines, Borges creates fabricated abstraction which interrogate the tension of rigidly structured machine generated movements and his own hand’s gestural marks. This process humanizes the technology by making it less perfect.
His work has been exhibited at The Southampton Art Center, O’Flaherty’s, the Viam corporate collection, and Wheaton college among others. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in industrial design with a concentration in design for extreme environments from the Rhode Island School of Design (2015). He currently lives and works in Brooklyn, New York
